About Caretakers of Wonder
Caretakers of Wonder is a climate leadership project and museum network comprised of nine children’s museums, science centers, partners, and expert advisors from across the United States, all working together to model collective climate action and education in their communities.
Spearheaded by Madison Children’s Museum, in partnership with the Association of Children’s Museums and Environment + Culture Partners, the network seeks to take regenerative climate action and build educational initiatives that foster compassion, engagement, and agency among young children birth to eight and those who care about them. Buoyed by a National Leadership Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services in the project’s first two years, and a Climate Smart Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the network has developed a new ground-breaking developmental framework, the Climate Action Playbook, and website to support young children in a warming world. Network partners are also developing institutional resiliency and adaptation plans all which will be shared with the field.
