Supporting Young Children
in a Warming World
Resources for Museum Professionals
Good for Earth
Great for Kids
The health of children and the health of the planet are deeply interconnected, with climate change posing unprecedented threats to both. Charged with the responsibility to act in children’s best interests, museum leaders across the United States established the Caretakers of Wonder network in 2021 to address these challenges and advocate for a sustainable future.
When we solve for children, we solve for the planet.
Museums as
Leaders for Change
Museums, in their role as welcoming, gathering, and learning spaces, can support young children, families, and their communities build resiliency, while modeling hopeful, collective climate action. Museums in the Caretakers of Wonder network demonstrate their commitments to children’s health by linking their choices to the environment kids grow up in, emphasizing that serving children means safeguarding their future and the planet.
